In loving memory :
Jeff Davis’ ego is so fragile he won’t go outside when the weather forecast says ‘Light Breeze’.
Jeff Davis’ ego is so fragile he wrote Kanye a letter asking if he could borrow some of his ego “in case of an emergency”. (Kanye said no.)
Jeff Davis’ ego is so fragile he has “you is smart, you is kind, you is important” inscribed in his bathroom mirror. A comforting voice recording of the phrase also plays every time he turns on the lights.

I mean, I guess I’m just a bit upset over the idea of a love interest for Derek because Sterek was the closest I’ve ever felt to one of my fandoms actually happening on the show/book/movie. For me, this isn’t about some “silly fangirl thing”. This is about that day, that you’ve been yearning to see, to feel it coming, the brewing storm, where a major tv network will take the stand for equality, for showing no fear, for going against the grain. Where this isn’t something silly that a show turns into a joke, a stereotypical, second rate homosexual pairing that we only have for comedic relief.
It’s that heart wrenching moment when you’re thrown things that make you think it’s really going to happen, that there’s actually a chance that isn’t on par with succeeding in building a snowman in hell. You can feed yourself the hope that the “rumoured love interest” is actually a part of the grand master plan to make Derek feel, and by feeling, he’ll eventually end up with Stiles and he’ll stay there — but I feel like it turns into a fool’s hope. I can’t help but to feel like this is could be the start of going downhill, of losing what I thought this fandom was screaming for:
A chance. A real chance to see something major in media that isn’t just showing “support” but leading the way, helping us cut down the path and taking the bruises and beatings with us instead of taking a back seat in the interest of keeping both sides happy. Sometimes, enough is enough. Something has to give. I’ve craved for this, I want to be standing tall when this wall comes down like the Berlin Wall.
Yes, there are simple-minded Sterek fans that are just fangirls — but there are simple-minded people that oppose Sterek simply for the sake of Derek and Stiles being two males.
This is our outcry because we want someone to take our side. We’re tired of the media that rides the fence and stays on neutral ground for the sake of safety. Show no fear. Give us something real. Give us something that’s teeth clenching, hands trembling, burning love and shivers down our spines so we can cry because it feels real, so we can love with them and not just fan art and fan fiction, so we can finally feel like we’re not fighting this battle alone. I want to ache with them on my telly, not just words written by people who have the same hopes as me. I want to laugh because I can actually hear them laughing. I want to feel warm when they’re really wrapped around one another. I want to cry when you think you’re going to lose one of them, not when it happens in a piece of fan fiction that you can easily appease by reading something happier.
Sterek is more than just a muscled, broody alpha and a loyal young boy, that have both been dealt some shitty hands. Sterek is a monument. We want to see it built, we want it as a pillar for the war we’re all waging where it’s about hearts and love, not anatomy and prejudice. It’s our Beacon.
“The Berlin Wall”
“Sterek is a monument”
“A stand for equality”
Do these people realize that they put gay rights like ten steps back instead of ten steps forward? WTF. These are two STRAIGHT CHARACTERS. If you melodramatically proclaim two straight guys getting together is the freaking beacon for homosexual pairings in television, you’re essentially claiming that homosexuality/heterosexuality aren’t sexual orientations, but rather a choice that every guy (or girl) can whimsically make at any point in their lives. There hasn’t been ANYTHING to seriously suggest that Derek or Stiles are even remotely bicurious (and do not come at me with the ‘let’s make out’ to Scott because PLEASE), let alone closeted homosexuals: Stiles is entirely obsessed with Lydia and Derek got his heart shredded by intensely loving a girl who betrayed him. And yet, these two should be the model for gay representation in the media. Two STRAIGHT males. What, actual gay couples aren’t good enough? Actual gay couples don’t speak to you? Nevermind the ACTUAL gay character in the show - these two are your beacon? Ugh. Horrible. I hate everything about this post. A surly dude and a funny dude share a few comedic scenes and suddenly they’re the BEACON for sexual equality. I can’t even handle how much that undermines everything that homosexuality is. I understand the silly fangirling. I don’t, in any way, understand this. This is just fetishization at it’s worst.
^And the lord said ‘let there be truth’.
